One night after having their butts handed to them in a 30-point blowout at the hands of Prestonwood, Muir bounced back and showed their mettle in the second round of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.
The Mustangs, led offensively by Hunter Woods and Haleem Jenkins outlasted Chaparral of Colorado, 63-61.
Woods had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals.
Jenkins added 15, while Tiyon Martin had 12 points.
Simaine Stewart Junior finished with 8 points and Nick Moore had 7.
Chaparral only had one loss this season before meeting up with the Mustangs.
Muir will take on East High School of Salt Lake City, Utah, Friday at 5:30 at Coronado High School.
East defeated Maranatha, 75-51, on Thursday evening, or the Minutemen and Mustangs could have had their own an all-Pasadena showdown in Vegas.
