It’s not often a basketball game is essentially over after the first 8 minutes.
But that was exactly the case on Wednesday for Maranatha.
The Minutemen took a 23-point first-quarter lead and earned a 75-49 victory.
Sophomore Patil Yaacoubian led all scorers with 25 points.
Cherise Masuda added 17, Emily Jordan 11, and Erica De Guzman 10 for Maranatha.
Considering MHS hadn’t played in 13 days, their first round contest was rather impressive.
Maranatha will take on O’Connor of Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday at 3:30.
