Better late than never!
Maranatha overcame a late 8-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter with a 23-6 surge in the final period.
The Minutemen defeated O’Connor (Phoenix), 50-41, in the San Diego’s Holiday Prep Classic.
It was their second consecutive tournament victory and fourth win in a row.
Patil Yaacoubian did not shoot well, but the sophomore star did what good players do and rallied in the clutch.
Yaacoubian scored 21 points on 5-of-23 shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds, but it the fourth quarter rally that changed the game in MHS’s favor.
Freshman Emily Jordan added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Cherise Masuda finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Mireille Minassian sparked Maranatha off the bench with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Maranatha will face Oceanside (3-8) today at 2.
