For those of us watching intently, we’re all kind of hoping for a Muir-Pasadena winner take all scenario next Thursday at Muir for the Pacific League championship.
It’s so much easier for fans to think and talk about it.
The players, though, have to prepare for and execute in the final four regular season games to set up that dream scenario for all of us.
And despite entering the fourth quarter at Arcadia with just a one-point lead, there was no worry with this experienced and talented Mustangs’ team.
They were calm and collected and outlasted the Apaches, 63-55, on Monday night and improved to 9-1 in league play.
Hunter Woods had 27 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists.
Tasson Aubry was huge on the boards with 20 rebounds, and he also scored 13 points and had 2 steals.
Haleem Jenkins added 7 points and Simaine Stewart Junior finished with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Tiyon Martin had just 2 points, but he contributed 5 assists and 4 rebounds.
Jalen Johnson and Joseph Dollaway had 3 points apiece for Muir.
Neal Carter finished with 2 points and 2 steals.
The Mustangs (9-1) stay even with the Bulldogs (9-1) and have games with Crescenta Valley, Burbank and Hoover before hosting Pasadena next Thursday at 7.
