For the first time all year, the Flintridge Prep softball team is over the .500 mark.

Don’t read too much into that first statement.

Because of the success of the girls basketball and soccer programs, Rebels’ coach Julie Mejia had to wait and wait and wait for her softball athletes that were competing for those two programs in CIF-SS title games and then the CIF State playoffs.

Once she got them back, Prep has been on a roll, including Wednesday’s 16-1 victory at Providence in a nonleague contest.

Emma Stellar went 2 for 3 with a three-run home run, she drove in four runs and pitched the final two innings of the game.

Melissa Grande was 2 for 4 with a double, triple and she finished with three RBIs.

Noe Tamura had two hits, including a triple.

Olivia Stevens finished 2 for 4 for the Rebels.

Prep will travel to Rio Hondo Prep in a Prep League contest Friday at 3:30.
