Flintridge Prep has been one of the area’s hottest teams of late after getting their entire roster back from the basketball and soccer programs.
And the Rebels started fast with a four-run first inning Tuesday when they hosted first-place Mayfield.
But the Cubs scored three runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to outlast Flintridge Prep, 11-6, and are just a couple victories over the two bottom teams in the league standings from claiming an outright Prep League title.
Julia Watson had a huge game for Mayfield.
Watson homered twice, walked three times, scored three runs and drove in three more.
Julia Domingo had one hit, scored twice and had two RBIs for the Cubs.
Olivia Stevens was huge for Flintridge Prep.
She went 2 for 4 with a home run, scored once and finished with four RBIs.
Melissa Grande doubled and scored for the Rebels, going 2 for 4 on Tuesday.
Alyssa Romo had two hits, including an RBI double for Mayfield.
Jaylin Domingo got the win in the circle, allowing just two earned runs on eight hits and striking out six.
Kate Huntley got the loss after surrendering six earned runs over six innings and striking out two.
Prep will travel to Chadwick on Thursday at 3:30 in the next to last Prep League game of the season.
Mayfield will host Westridge on Thursday and travel to Firebaugh on Friday.
The Tigers and Falcons have a combined 2-15 in Prep League play.
