From STAFF REPORTS
Mayfield kept its spot atop the Prep League standings on Tuesday.
The Cubs earned a sweep over Providence of Burbank, who met for the first time as Prep League foes.
Mayfield earned the 25-18, 25-19 and 25-17 victory to improve to 3-0 in league.
Caroline Ivankovich led the Cubs with 14 kills and Catie Sanchez contributed 12 kills.
Maeve Davitt added 22 digs and Charlotte Pizante finished with 9 blocks.
After a sweep over Poly back on August 28, the Cubs program is starting to turn heads (in a good way).
Mayfield will host Flintridge Prep Thursday at 5:30 in another Prep League battle.
Quotable:
First-Year Mayfield coach Hugo Ayala: “It’s a new team and new program and I’m trying to build it and get some consistency. Were getting better and that’s something we focus on every day. They (Ivankovich and Sanchez) have been consistent, but we’re getting contributions from many players. We like doing what we like do to, and again, we’re just trying to get better daily. I am really happy with the progress and attitude in our gym.”
Records: Providence (11-3 overall, 1-2 in league); Mayfield (7-3, 3-0)
