La Salle is 0-6 this season after Friday night’s loss in Cerritos.
And while that strikes at the core of every coach and player wearing the Lancers’ colors, each member on the La Salle sidelines is leaving it all out on the field.
That might not sound like much to some that haven’t played sports at a high level, but it’s something that helps rebound programs in less time than expected, and it’s an invaluable lesson in life that will certainly benefit these young men.
Cerritos Valley Christian got out to a 22-point lead after the first quarter and they held on to defeat La Salle by a score of 38-20.
CJ Rettig completed 14 of 37 passes for 211 yards and had two scores.
Rettig also gained 49 yards on 6 carries and a TD on the ground.
Cesar Gudino carried the ball 4 times for 18 yards.
Giovanni Butteri had a 75-yard scoring reception and Gudino caught two passes for 19 yards, including a TD.
Marcus Powe had 4 receptions for 36 yards and Corbin Jones had a team-high 5 catches for 47 yards receiving.
La Salle will open Del Rey League action next Friday at St. Paul.
The Swordsmen (4-1) had their bye week Friday and fell, 34-27, in their last game, September 14, against visiting Paraclete.
