From STAFF REPORTS

When Poly is at its best, the Panthers are getting significant contributions from Ryan Bowen, John Genske, Jackson Hayes and Mateo Taylor.

That’s not all they have by any means, but those four seems to make the wheels go in motion.

Tuesday night, Poly got solid play from all four, as the Panthers picked up an important road victory at Chadwick, 67-41.

John Genske had 8 points and 18 rebounds.
Ryan Bowen scored 21 points, and dished out two assists.

Jackson Hayes had 14 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and Mateo Taylor chipped in with10 points.

Poly will host The Webb Schools Saturday night at 6 in a nonleague contest.

The Prep League looks so far to be a two-man race with Poly and Flintridge Prep.

Quotable:

Jackson Hayes: “I thought I played pretty well tonight. I really attacked the basket and finished well, which I need to start doing more. I think I also pushed the ball well which helped us get some easy fast-break points. As a team, we were very cohesive tonight. We passed the ball better than we have all season, and also ran the floor very spaced. This definitely allowed us to play our drive-and-kick game.”

John Genske: “I think for starters, we came out and executed the way that we wanted to execute, specifically in transition. I also think that the score doesn’t fully reflect the game. I think Chadwick has a lot of weapons and we need to respect what their guys are capable of when we play them in the future because it may not have been their night this game, but they have some talented guys who we can not forget about. So far, I can say that each game in the Prep League is going to be fought tooth and nail, and no one is going to roll over. Everyone is going to come out and play competitively whether or not they come out on top.”

Prep League Standings:
Poly (11-3 overall, 3-0 in league)
Flintridge Prep (5-6, 2-0)
Chadwick (6-10, 0-1)
Rio Hondo Prep (6-10, 0-3)
Firebaugh (0-14, 0-1)
