From Staff Reports

Loyola took a 15-point lead into the fourth quarter of their Mission League boys basketball game against visiting St. Francis.

The Golden Knights did outscore the Cubs, 21-16, in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough.

Loyola held on for a 61-51 victory and dropped the Golden Knights into fifth place in the very tough Mission League standings.

St. Francis shot poorly all around.

From the field, the Golden Knights made just 15 of 40 shots (36 percent), and missed half of their 18 free-throw attempts.

Those numbers will almost always add up to a loss on the road in league play.

Andre Henry led St. Francis with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Joey Walsh had 13 points and 7 rebounds, but the senior lefty went 5 of 16 from the field.

Things don’t get any easier for the Golden Knights, as St. Francis will travel Wednesday night to take on first place Alemany (17-3, 4-0)

Lucas Shin scored 9 points, but he too struggled, making just 4 of 13 shots, including a 1-of-7 effort from behind the 3-point arc.

Khristion Courseault led all scorers with 19 points for Loyola.

Benjamin Grundy had 8 points and 11 rebounds for the Cubs.

Sean Stephen had 8 points for St. Francis and Malakhi Jensen added 5.

Mission League Standings:
Alemany (17-3 overall, 4-0 in league)
Harvard-Westlake (12-6, 4-0)
Chaminade (13-7, 2-2)
Loyola (10-5, 2-2)
St. Francis (11-6, 1-3)
