Flintridge Prep, barring a slip up late, will win the Prep League title.
But no team will enter the CIF-SS playoffs playing better volleyball than Poly.
The Panthers continued their hot streak (including a win earlier in the week over Prep) by defeating Firebaugh in Lynwood in four games.
Poly defeated the Falcons by scores of 25-15, 25-21, 16-25 and 25-19.
Matt Alison led the Panthers’ offense again with 13 kills and 4 digs.
Richard Berry added 8 kills and 4 blicks.
Will McConnell led Poly with 28 assists.
Poly will travel to Chadwick on Tuesday at 4:30 to finish out the regular season.
“Firebaugh played stellar defense for the entire match and had a couple of outstanding service runs to take the third set,” Poly coach Jack Prater said. “The team responded well and opened the fourth set with some tough serving and established a 9-2 lead behind two early kills from Richard. Matt had a strong service run with a couple of aces to help us close out the set.”
