Matt Loomis wanted to make sure Poly kept its hold of the Prep League penthouse.

And the Panthers’ junior did more than his share on Tuesday.

Loomis went all five innings and shut out Chadwick, 11-0, in mercy-rule victory.

He also went 1 for 2 with a double and four RBIs.

Ty Evans continued his torrid hitting with three more hits on Tuesday and he scored twice and drove in one run.

Two of Evans’ three hits were doubles.

Jack Wilson had one hit and scored twice.

Franco Alonso had one hit and scored once.

Joe Masters walked twice and scored both times.

Van Fichtner went 1 for 2 with two runs scored and he drove in two.

Jackson Hayes singled, scored a run and drove in another.

Bryan Regan got the loss for Chadwick after going three innings and allowing seven runs (four earned).

Regan surrendered five hits, walked two and struck out two Poly batters.

Poly will travel to Chadwick on Thursday at 3:45 with three league games to go.

The Panthers currently hold a two-game lead over Rio Hondo Prep with three to play.
