If anyone was hoping Flintridge Prep would add some drama to Tuesday’s rivalry game, that got dashed early.
Poly scored four first-inning runs and never looked back.
The Panthers hammered Prep for a 16-0 victory in five innings (mercy rule).
They also got news that Firebaugh was forfeiting Wednesday’s regular season finale, which allowed Poly to officially claim the league championship outright some 24 hours before they would have won it any way.
Brennah Bronk and Vivian Wheeler combined on a three-hit shutout.
Wheeler also went 2 for 2 at the plate, with 3 walks, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs.
Ali Ulin had a hit, walked 3 times and scored 3 runs.
Maddie Magee went 2 for 4, including a double, two runs scored and she drove in two runs.
Megan Kelleher doubled, walked twice, scored a run and drove in another.
Laura Chin, Ella Cornwell and Rory Xanders each scored a run.
Chin and Cornwell walked three times each.
