From Staff Reports:

Poly went to Lynwood knowing a victory would wrap up their twenty first Prep League championship in the last twenty two years.

There wasn’t much doubt as to the outcome, but many of the Panthers contributed in the 12-1, five-inning victory.

Matt Queen, Matt Loomis, Ryan Clayton, Ben Bryson and Franco Alonso all pitched one inning on Tuesday.

The Panthers’ pitchers combined to give up one unearned run on two hits and they struck out 12 batters.

Each of the five pitchers struck out at least two Falcons, and Loomis and Alonso fanned three.

Nine different Poly players had at least one hit.

Matt Queen went 2 for 3 with a run scored, he drove in a run and officially got the win on the mound.

Ben Bryson doubled and drove in two runs.

Ty Evans had an RBI and a base hit.

Van Fichtner went 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs.

Jack Wilson also had a hit, run scored and RBI.

Franco Alonso tripled and scored two runs.

Joe Masters scored twice and had one hit for Poly.

Matt Loomis singled and scored.

Trent Steele had one hit and scored once.

Jackson Hayes and Sean McTigue both had an RBI for the Prep League champs.

Although it won’t affect their league standings, Poly will host second-place Rio Hondo Prep on Thursday at 3:30 to end their regular season schedule and maybe use as a playoff tune up.
